After finishing massage therapy school in 2021, she began working with a massage therapy business but soon realized she wanted to go out on her own. Fast forward to 2024, she learned about Office Ours and decided to take a chance working for herself by leasing her own office suite. She had planted the seeds for Breathing Room Massage Therapy to grow and was ready to execute. 

Ginny wants to provide a space and service where clients can come in, relax, and reset their nervous system. She often finds that people can be intimidated by massage therapy or think it is an expensive luxury service. In reality, regular massage can be a practical part of maintaining overall health and well-being. By creating a welcoming environment, Ginny helps clients feel at ease from the moment they walk in. 

After moving into her own office at the Garner Office Ours location, her business began to grow. She utilized the Garner Chamber of Commerce, located next door to Office Ours. She became a chamber member and started meeting other business owners in the area. Her business has grown due to the chamber’s support, which has empowered her to talk to more people and network. 

Ginny enjoys having her massage therapy practice at Office Ours because of the great location. The building is highly visible and easy for her clients to find. She enjoys talking and networking with other small business owners in the building. She also finds that when a problem or maintenance issue arises, it is addressed and resolved quickly. Office Ours has given Ginny the tools to keep growing her business in Garner.

Ginny is a part of the LaunchGarner entrepreneurial cohort, which is a course for new business owners in Garner. She also teaches massage therapy courses at WakeTech, the same place she was a student just a few years ago. In addition to offering massage therapy at her 500 Benson Road office in Garner, she also provides chair massage for community events.

After joining the Air Force, Charles started teaching leadership classes. The instructor he replaced was leaving the Air Force to become a financial advisor, and he stopped by one day to teach Charles about his new role and how things like mutual funds and IRAs worked.  This was a turning point for Charles. He realized that this was something he was interested in and, more importantly, something he could turn into a career. Charles started doing financial advising on the side while in the Air Force but eventually gave up his license due to the Air Force job becoming more demanding.

 Eventually, Charles left the Air Force and started working on his financial advising career in Tucson, Arizona. After dipping his toe in the corporate world and moving to North Carolina, Charles found his way back to financial advising with Primerica. Nowadays, Charles focuses on helping families make wiser choices with their money, get out of debt, and find financial independence. Charles is also passionate about educating the next generation of financial professionals who will continue to serve clients long after he retires. 

Charles has spent the last four years leasing an office at Office Ours in Garner, North Carolina. Charles was drawn to Office Ours because of the location and office space, but also everything else that came with it. One of the biggest questions Sara gets is, “What is permanent makeup?” Permanent makeup is a semi-permanent or cosmetic tattoo. This type of tattoo can include eyebrows, eyeliner, lips, or blush. Pretty much any makeup you put on your face could also be tattooed. Microblading, or semi-permanent eyebrow tattoos, is the number one procedure she does almost daily. The ink for permanent makeup does not go as deep as a tattoo, so it is designed to fade slowly. Sara provides a free consultation with her clients to learn more about them and what type of permanent makeup they would like. She does very personalized work because no two faces or eyebrows are alike. Sara’s work helps her clients feel more confident and better about themselves. 

Sara has leased an office with Office Ours in Garner since September 2022. Finding the right office for her business was important because there are many requirements when opening a permanent makeup studio, such as tile floors and water access inside the office space. Providing a calm, quiet space is also a must for her clients. Office Ours provides not just an office suite but clean facilities and a lobby area for her clients. Sara also loves that she gets an external sign for her business that helps with her marketing and helps her clients find her location.

After receiving her associate’s degree in science, Carolina began working for a large massage therapy company. She watched as the owner grew the business quickly after starting it alone. Now, the owner has an entire building dedicated to her massage therapy practice. After working for this company for a few years, Carolina decided to make the jump and start her own massage therapy business.

Carolina specializes in Thai massage and other modalities like barefoot or “back walking,” cupping, and Graston technique. These different types of massage help with pain management, mobility, flexibility, and overwell health and wellness. Carolina sees clients from all walks of life seeking her treatments to feel physically and mentally better. 

In December 2021, Carolina moved her massage therapy practice into Office Ours Garner location on Benson Road. She needed a private office space that was quiet and clean, which she had found with Office Ours. With easy parking at the front of the building and handicapped parking at the back of the building, Carolina can accommodate all of her clients. Safety was another concern that she does not have to worry about at Office Ours. With Covid-19 in the rearview mirror, she is seeing an uptick in business and is excited to see where things will go. Looking back, Carolina says she never thought she would have her own massage therapy business, making her success feel all the better.

Bleu Heavenly Touch Massage was started during a time when many businesses were still shut down. She was nervous about how Covid would affect her plans but moved forward into her own office suite at Office Ours in May 2021. She knew she was taking a risk but luckily, through word of mouth, her business grew. She credits her business’ success to specializing in a specific type of massage therapy that isn’t very common in the Triangle area which is providing relief to patients post-surgery. Post-operative massage helps with lymphatic drainage and swelling that is common after surgery for people who have had cancer, injuries, lymphodema, tummy tucks, and liposuction, to name a few. Bianca enjoys helping men and women who feel beautiful from the inside out while also helping them find relief after invasive surgeries.

After working out of her home and doing mobile massage therapy, Bleu Heavenly Touch Massage opened in 2021 with one office suite at an Office Ours location in North Raleigh. In 2022, Bianca expanded again into a second office after experiencing an increase in clients needing her services. She loves the professional setting and location central to many of her patients who come from as far as two hours away to seek her treatments. She also likes how safe the location is with security cameras and how there are other like-minded business owners at this location who also call Office Ours home. With wheelchair access to the building and a lobby, her clients are able to comfortably wait for their services. 

Bianca is excited to continue to grow her business by adding new employees and possibly expanding to other locations. She hopes to open satellite offices one day as well. She also wants to teach others to do this type of post-operative massage that is uncommon but needed in this area. She hopes that by training others, specifically women, to do what she does, she will inspire them to start their massage therapy businesses.

 Angel Ballentine, owner of Phoenix Physical Therapy & Wellness Center,  has committed herself and her practice to helping people regain their independence and functional mobility. While Phoenix serves the entire community, Angel has special expertise in rehabilitating injured members of the dance and performing arts community, active seniors who refuse to “get old”, and all others who are motivated to overcome injuries and illness through hard work and perseverance. 

Angel has known from a young age that she wanted to be a physical therapist and knew she wanted to stay in the Raleigh area. After taking a leap of faith, she found a home for her practice in a community she is devoted to serving. She shares that service spirit with her daughter, Ava, who you will often find in the clinic helping out in any way she can. 

A nine-to-five job never impressed Angel. She rarely followed the crowd and knew she wanted to do things differently. After shadowing a physical therapist at a young age and attending Winston Salem State University, she set out to make her dream a reality. After doing contract work in physical therapy for many years, she was able to open her own business and, most importantly, make her own rules. Angel grew up in Raleigh and saw the need for medical care facilities in the community, especially in southeast Raleigh. She believes that you should be able to get quality medical care no matter where you live and not have to leave your community to find it. This belief has guided her to stay in the area and ensure that everyone has access to physical therapy and that the money they spend stays in their community. 

Angel is not only focused on keeping her business local but on helping her patients heal the physical problems they come to her for. Phoenix Physical Therapy & Wellness Center works to truly fix the problem and not band-aid it. Physical therapists sometimes see their patients 2-3 times a week, so they get to know them and become a part of their family. By gaining their trust and building that connection with their patients, they can help them heal both physically and mentally. Angel and her team build a plan for their patients that involves them regaining their functional mobility and the mindset that they can indeed do it. Angel says she loves seeing her clients’ progress and enjoys being a part of their journey towards healing. 

In September 2021, Angel knew she needed her own office space and was happy to find a location in Garner that met her expectations and meet her industry’s needs. With utilities, wifi, and facility maintenance being included in her lease, she was able to focus on starting her business with less overhead, and ultimately, less worry. Angel looks forward to holding events and classes in the future, and the conference room at the Garner location provides the perfect space for this. Angel started by leasing one office but Office Ours was able to help her easily expand Phoenix Physical Therapy & Wellness Center by leasing a second office to add floor active physical therapy clients and a third office where relaxation-based and therapeutic massage are offered in a private and relaxing environment. 

Angel is excited to continue growing her business and helping people in the community. She has brought on two full-time employees, Leah a physical therapist assistant, and Krisan a massage therapist, and hopes to open satellite clinics throughout the state one day. Angel is hoping to expand more on the wellness side of her business and to include massage therapy as well as a variety of wellness programs and services at all future locations. She is excited to have her dream of multiple locations become a reality and keep growing her community-focused business.

After working ten years in staffing and management, Brittany decided to work for herself and build her own human resources business. Building Stronger Teams was born in April 2021 with a desire to make a more significant impact and help small businesses create the best teams possible. Brittany provides recruitment services and best practices and procedures to help business owners maintain and nurture their employees. As Brittany said, “You can’t have a successful business without happy employees.” To provide this service to businesses, Brittany works with companies to support and train their employees, so everyone is operating as best as possible. Brittany finds that when businesses have clear procedures in place accompanied by a supportive leadership team, their employees are often more effective and fulfilled in their roles, as she stated, “When you take care of your employees, they will take care of your business.”

Growing up in Poland, Marzena saw firsthand what it takes to be a good business owner and entrepreneur. She grew up working for her parent’s businesses and knew she wanted to have her own business someday. After moving to New York City, she got her first job working for a cleaning service company. Marzena says she knew right away that she wanted to work for herself. Not long after, she started her own cleaning business in the city. Wanting to expand to a new area, they moved to the Raleigh area and opened Ever Clean House in September 2020. 

Marzena is proud of the work they do and loves that their company is family-oriented. Ever Clean House focuses on not only giving families time back but giving back to the community. Through the program, Cleaning for a Reason, Ever Clean House gives patients battling cancer free house cleanings. They have been involved with Cleaning for a Reason for over a year in the Triangle and even longer with their company in New York City.

They recently celebrated their first anniversary with Office Ours at our Executive Circle location in Cary. Marzena says one of the top reasons they got an office suite was to have a home base for employees to come to for meetings or pick up supplies. Casey Wiggins, a former elementary school educator, was one of these teachers. She wanted the best materials for her students and had an eye for a great deal. Over time, Casey wanted to spread the word to fellow educators across the country on finding deals on websites like Amazon. Facebook seemed like the prominent place to create a group to share the deals she found on materials like pens, classroom furniture, or diverse books for classroom libraries.

The Facebook group immediately took off, and Teacher Deals by Casey was created. Casey’s following has continued to grow over the last few years and now reaches teachers not only in North Carolina but across the country. What started as an idea to share deals on items that teachers may need has grown into a thriving business. Casey strives to create a safe place for teachers to find products they need and help them save money. Some teachers have reached out to Casey to share that the space she has created is an outlet for them to shop and save money at the same time.

As Teacher Deals by Casey grew, Casey realized she would benefit from having her own office space. She is one of the newest tenants at Office Ours and has enjoyed having her own space at the brand new Garner location. Being a one-person company, she came into a turnkey office ready to get to work. Casey is glad to be out of her living room and in a clean, professional office space that allows her to build her business. She is excited to meet and potentially collaborate with other tenants and keep growing her business.

On The Road to Success

Uncertainty was at the forefront of her mind as she worked to start a new business while also working a full-time day job. However, this didn’t stop her from pursuing her dreams. Shortly after her decision to become a licensed therapist, she needed to begin looking for an office space that was affordable and close to clients. She chose Office Ours because of how easy it was for her to move-in and the price was reasonable. Since she needed to build her client base from scratch she was also able to split the lease with another therapist to help reduce her expenditures. This decision allowed her to focus on her mission and worry less about staying afloat in the short term.

To win more clients, she began advertising on social media, therapist websites, reaching out to old friends, and listing her practice with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Today, most of her clients reach out to her via social media and advertising, the rest of her referrals come from her personal network and Blue Cross. Building her client base was a challenge; with the key being consistency and offering a fantastic service.

She loves being able to bring her clients to a central location and an office building that promotes privacy and a comfortable atmosphere. Not only this, she said the fact we were able to give her a fully customized therapist set up was a tremendous influence in her decision since it eased of entry into the field. It was all part of the package, including a sofa for her clients and a desk for herself. This made the mountain of cost and effort of starting a business a little less strenuous.

Javonte specializes in a few different methods depending on the goals of the client she is assisting. She is a huge advocate of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement and Reprocessing) and is interested in continuously learning new methods. Being a survivor of childhood trauma herself, therapy was able to put her on the path to recovery. She was able to regain her life and her happiness, also giving her a new mission to help others achieve the same result. Her next goal is to start utilizing the onsite conference rooms for group meetings.

As with most businesses, the Covid-19 pandemic has directly affected her… but not as you may think. Her full-time day job was furloughed in March, and she decided it was time to focus solely on her business. She handed in her resignation shortly after being furloughed. Javonte mentioned this was a giant leap of faith, and many around her questioned her decision because she had a family to support and bills to pay. But, she said it wasn’t as big of a risk as it could have been, as the flexibility in her lease agreement gives her the ability to adjust office space and expenses on a short notice.

Around this time following the pandemic, she saw her client base began to increase. The high unemployment rates, working from home, and the general stress of the situation is one of the contributing factors to the rise in the need of therapists. One of the downsides is the reality that some clients prefer to work virtually, but Javonte really finds it difficult to maintain that level of personal touch when working online and she hopes to resume her in-person meetings soon. She was also doing so well, she decided to upgrade offices in the same building. She moved to a more spacious and centralized location, giving her and her clients more room for social distancing and allowing them easier access to her office.

Javonte is an inspiration to therapists and business owners that want to make the leap to start their own practice but are afraid to take the first step.. These are exactly the stories we love to hear about. We have had the opportunity to watch her grow from a hesitant business plan into successful business owner, and we hope to see her continue to grow her practice into her full dream . Eventually, she would love to have a building to herself, where she could provide therapy and child care to those in need.

Ericka’s foundational message and life goal is to help others achieve their maximum potential while staying true to their core beliefs. Through her companies and missions, she has found a balance and a synergy between her ministry and business pursuits.

When Ericka was just 12, she discovered exactly what she wanted to do; she had a desire to run a successful business. She had great role models. Her parents were both entrepreneurs and she had a front row seat to watching them build successful companies and give back to their community. This left an impression on young Ericka and she was inspired to follow a similar path.

At 17, circumstances at the church Erika attended nearly interrupted her dreams of entrepreneurship. Leadership at her church was falling short and not meeting the expectations of its congregants. Concerned, members of the congregation reached out to Erika and asked her to assist in the ministry. She obliged but serving her church while also pursuing her business interests became very challenging. The time and energy demands were daunting. That is, until she did what all successful entrepreneurs do; she evaluated her new circumstances, considered her options and found a solution. Ultimately, Erika was able to integrate her two interests—faith and entrepreneurship—and the rest, as they say, is history.

Her advice for anyone looking to break into a new field or try something new and remarkable is to embrace the uncomfortable tasks. To have different, you must do things differently, and that is often uncomfortable. Being willing to step outside your comfort zone is the key to maximizing you potential and becoming who you truly want to be. It may not be easy, but it is worth it! These empowering messages have helped Ericka grow her businesses into successful brands that help whole communities of businesswomen, Christians, and entrepreneurs achieve goals they thought were possible.

Kelvin has a unique and encouraging entrepreneurial journey that is beneficial for all small business owners to hear.

He began his insurance career at a sales job with a large company years ago after getting his insurance license. His duties included consulting with businesses, trying to reach the owner to sell supplemental insurance to them. Though it was hard work and it didn’t really correlate with his goals, he learned and developed the skills that would eventually give him the knowledge to become successful on his own. Even though this was a great start, he knew he could do more for himself and his family. With this internal desire to do more, regardless of what it took, he started his own company in 2015.

KGT Enterprises began to grow after it’s conception in 2015, as he marketed himself by attending church events and other local organizations. His name quickly became popular among the local community. “I wanted to own a business where I could control my own income and have it work in parallel with ministry.” Kelvin stated.

He moved into our Professional Court location at Office Ours in 2018, helping his business gain a larger footprint and allowing him to establish more agents in his company.
